The 13th annual Idaho® Potato Drop is set to take place on December 31, 2025, at the Idaho State Capitol in downtown Boise, starting at 6:00 PM. This free, all-ages, charitable event celebrates the arrival of the new year with live music, the iconic #GlowTato ascent during the Idaho® Potato Rise, and a world-class pyrotechnic display at midnight, orchestrated by Inland Crane and Sir Jag Pyro. The event features performances from local and national acts, including headliner American Mile, and includes the Idaho® Potato Drop Urban Rail Jam, where skiers and snowboarders compete for cash and prizes.
KTVB will broadcast live coverage from Cecil D. Andrus Park, beginning at 11:30 PM, allowing viewers across the country to experience the festivities. Attendees can enjoy local food, an all-ages beer garden, and the opportunity to customize their own Idaho® Potato Drop merchandise on-site. VIP tickets are available for $150 and include access to a warm, cozy VIP room with a complimentary drink, appetizers, live music, and raffles with prizes such as ski resort passes and a one-night stay in the Idaho® Potato Hotel.
The event has been recognized nationally, winning USA Today’s “10 Best Reader’s Choice Award” for “Best New Year’s Eve Drop” two years in a row and receiving SAM Magazine’s “Best Event” award for the Urban Air Snowpark Series. The 13th annual celebration continues the tradition of supporting local non-profits, with beneficiaries including So Good, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Idaho Crisis & Suicide Hotline.
