February CVOA Neighborhood Update
Posted on Feb 24th, 2023

Hello, Columbia Village Neighbors!  It's already the end of the month and, if you're like me, you're impatiently waiting for spring! Brrrrr!!! Your CVOA board had our monthly meeting this week and we wanted to take a moment to let you know what was discussed. You can also find full meeting minutes, agendas, past meeting minutes, etc. on our website www.cvoa.net.

First, another plug to get out the VOTE! Hopefully you have all received a voter packet with all the necessary information for you to make an educated decision about who you think would serve your community the best. Remember, you can vote for 3 different candidates or 1 candidate 3 times. With 9 candidates you have a great opportunity to help your neighborhood continue to improve and thrive. One of the most important things to remember about voting in our annual board elections is that every 3 years, we get at least 3 new people. That helps us have more diverse ideas and perspectives represented! If you are missing your packet or mistook it for junk mail, (don't worry, it happens) you can find everything you need on the website at the link below.  Your votes matter!

Next, we voted on a few things that we know will be of interest to you and wanted to pass on the information. You may have noticed that we have been updating and changing some things in the Rec. Center. We've added a stationary bike, a little lending library and a storage shelf to keep your water bottles and things off the floor. The messy stickers have been cleaned and removed from the doors and windows as well. To really spruce up the place, we have approved $20,000 to patch and repaint the entire interior of the Rec. Center. We are currently looking for more bids and hoping to come in under budget if possible. The pool repairs are slow going but progressing and we are excited to see that completed.

To aid in communications, we have approved a $1,500 budget to send out a postcard to all homeowners in the CVOA with a QR code for the website to encourage and remind all to register. You can even stick it on your fridge, just in case you forget! By registering on our site, you can stay informed and help us better communicate what is going on in the neighborhood regarding events, meetings, updates, neighborhood issues, etc.

Finally, and perhaps most important, is that a motion was made and passed unanimously at this week's meeting to form a committee of board members and homeowners to review and update the CC&Rs. This is a project that has needed to be done for quite a long time as the current CC&Rs are over 30 years old. Clearly the neighborhood is a vastly different place now and it is time to make them current to what our community really needs and desires. This will be a massive project that will take months, more than likely a full year, to complete and the CVOA attorney is working on a list of procedures and an estimate of cost for this project to be completed. Any kind of change to the CC&Rs requires a 2/3 majority vote of homeowners to participate so we will need all hands on deck to make this happen. Over the next few months, be looking for homeowner surveys and project updates as this continues. Stay tuned!

Finally, in order to streamline your customer service questions regarding billing and other day to day questions, Sentry Management has provided all owners with a new email address for your inquiries. It is communitycare@sentrymgt.com. We hope this helps! As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns at any time.

Sincerely,

CVOA Board of Directors
